This one was just too funny not to send to you! Bana and I got to feed some doves when we were out exploring María Luisa Park in Seville. We each got given a handful of seed and then chaos ensued, Harry was having a grand old time laughing behind the camera at us. Little did he know he would be getting a shot at dove feeding too!
These girls were absolutely darling and we simply had to stop and admire them in their Flamenco dresses! They were more than happy to give us some twirls and very kindly let Harry take their photograph. In exchange for this we got to join in with their dancing and have a quick Flamenco lesson - maybe in my next life I could be a professional dancer!
Trying not to catch too much of the sun, Harry was happy to oblige in lending me his shirt for my shoulders!
High in the clouds. I can’t remember exactly where we were flying over at this point, but I do know I could never tire of this view of the world!
Darling Harry and I at the airport.
Harry insisted we stopped the car and take a couple of portraits, the lighting was too nice to miss. All dressed up in my best tartan suit for our trip up to Skye.
This was one of the most spectacular sunsets I think I’ve ever seen, we stopped to admire it on the road in between Kelso and Coldstream. It was the perfect end to a lovely day of exploring Scotland.
Harry took this rather dramatic portrait of me sitting at the vanity in our hotel room in Vienna. Funny that our trusty suitcase got to make an appearance in the bottom corner, he’s a real part of the family with how many holidays we’ve been on together! Also please excuse the washing hanging up to dry behind the curtains - needs must!
This is me on the steps of the Iselsberg Hotel. The flowers along the balconies were in full bloom so it was the perfect place to get a picture taken! It would be so lovely to have sat and had some lunch and drinks at the table, maybe we should come here again next year and bring you too?
We got the steamer crossing over to Maria Wörth from Pörtschach and got to have a look inside this Gothic church. It had some lovely features, sadly too dark to get any good photos though so just had to settle for one with us both outside.
We met these two old ladies in Pörtschach and they were such a pair of characters! The lady in red had been a pastry cook to King Edward VII and had been employed in Buckingham Palace, Sandringham, Balmoral etc. Their next door neighbours were naturalised Americans coming from Tucson, Arizona.
This was taken from the side of the Vatican Museum, with the cupola of St Peter’s in the background. I was too busy admiring the gardens to notice Harry snap this one, but I rather like it.
I insisted that Harry take a photo while we were here - you can see the Pope in the window at the top right during midday benediction.
The bougainvillea ascending this pastel pink home was too nice not to commemorate with a photograph. The scent was divine, I’ll have to convince Harry to help me try and grow some at home so I don’t have to travel to Italy to enjoy it again!
This was taken on the deck of the Sicilia, the boat that took us from Naples to Palermo in Sicily.
Our pension had rather grand brocade furniture - Harry likened it to the throne in the painting of Louis XV by Louis-Michel Vanloo. We felt it was best to try our own recreation to honour the regal chairs - how do you think we did?
We stopped in for lunch at this darling little spot called the Gatto Bianco in Capri. It opened only a couple of years ago, and we got to dine on their shaded terrace surrounded by a gorgeous array of greenery. Sadly the jug was not full of Marie Brizard liqueur, just water.
Returning to my youth back home. This is me giving my nephews new rocking horse a test ride, proving I’m his fun aunt!
This is all of us outside my sisters home in LA. My sister Viv is the one on the far right, and her husband Michael is the second in from the left. Cousin Caroline and her husband Joe are on either side of Harry and I, and Kathleen is a family friend on the left (her husband Frank is the one taking our photo). The little ones down the front were far too excited to all be looking at the camera at once it seems!
A rest stop for a drink of Canada Dry was essential on this hot LA day. Adding our own touch of class to the mountain trail with a lovely pink tablecloth!
Harry took this rather lovely portrait of Annie and I when we went round to visit her and her family. The natural light their front room gets is wonderful, and it was so nice to put my feet up after all the walking around we had done that day!
From one of our little day trips to the coast, wouldn’t be complete without some tea on the beach! The poor Ridgways tin has seen better days but it’s just the perfect size for a makeshift stove.
This is from our day trip to Finchingfield, such a charming little place! We had a nice sit down and watched the world go by.
All dressed up in my Sunday best!
